The Schoole of Night has lately been working on The First Booke of Songs (1597) of John Dowland. Today was our last rehearsal, tomorrow we’re off to Bremen to record it with Radio Bremen in the Sendesaal Bremen.

We composed seven songs inspired by the lute songs of John Dowland, to the poems of John Donne, William Shakespeare and Anonymous.You are welcome to listen to the raw and uncut demos. Frank Pschichholz is working on a Recomposing John Dowland project. Those are songs composed by Frank to texts of John Donne, William Shakespeare and other Elizabethan poets and inspired by John Dowland. The project has been made possible through Deutscher Musikrat funding.

The Schoole of Night, together with Capella de la Torre, Cum Decore choir and Playpad Circus has opened the Kommen und Gehen Festival on 12 August 2022. “Heinrich Schütz und seine Kinder. The Schoole of Night is currently working on John Dowland’s First Booke of Songs or Ayres (1597) – a long reaching project that will include concerts, seminars, videos and recordings.
