In February 2026, a monograph by Frank Pschichholz on John Dowland’s Second Booke will appear in print.

It is a comprehensive scholarly examination of The Second Booke of Songs or Ayres (1600) by John Dowland within its political and cultural context, including a detailed analysis of each individual composition and of each pair (or group) of songs in their musical and textual form. The contextual discussions draw on contemporary sources. The volume also contains German translations of the song texts.

The volume is being published by Signatura Edition.
